Plans for departure…….

June 6, 2014 – Begin 3 month training at Peace Corps office in Kampala, Uganda

June 5, 2014 – Flight from Johannesburg to Entebbe (4hrs)

June 4, 2014 – Flight from New York to Johannesburg (15hrs)

June 4, 2014 – Bus from Philadelphia to New York (2:30am, of course)

June 3, 2014 – Flight from Fort Lauderdale to Philadelphia

 

And the rest is history…….

May 6, 2014 – Staging travel arrangements confirmed and flights are booked!

April 3, 2014 – Received Final Medical Clearance (No more shots, yay!)

March 4, 2014 – Confirmation that Passport & Uganda Visa was received by Peace Corps

November 30, 2013 – Began the New Volunteer paperwork and Learning Portal process

November 20, 2013 – Officially accepted Peace Corps invitation

November 15, 2013 – Received invitation to begin training for Peace Corps service in Uganda!

April 3, 2013 – Notified of delay; Agreed to keep my application active and wait…

March 13, 2013 – Completed Placement Skill Questions

February 13, 2013 – Medically Pre-cleared for service

November 23, 2012 – Legal Clearance paperwork completed

November 8, 2012 – Nominated for Community Economic Development (CED)

November 7, 2012 – Interview with Steve Hunsicker, Regional Recruiter, in Miami

September 24, 2012 – Application was received & processed by the Peace Corps

August 2012 – Decided to join the Peace Corps

– March 1, 1961 –

President John F. Kennedy signed the executive orders to establish the Peace Corps
